In 1843, William Woods Holden became the owner of the “Standard,” turning it into a newspaper that advocated for the betterment of the state of North Carolina.
Holden would go on to become a two-time governor of North Carolina, establish the Republican Party in the state, fight against the Ku Klux Klan, and become one of the pre-eminent journalists in the 19th century.
In that vein, The Daily Standard seeks to better the state of North Carolina through the written word.
The Daily Standard will publish news about North Carolina politics, business and life each day. We hope you will follow along.
The Daily Standard is a publication of Longleaf Politics LLC.
